Arrived at spitbank after half motoring / half saiing and hitting a top speed of 8.2 knots

Minus two degrees….winter gear out!

TQ to just off Osbourne bay

Greeted by military escots on exit from Southampton Water!
Weather not looking good for the return!
. . . Followed by Maintenance day on Saturday 4th Jan !
After nearly 2 hours up the mast, VHF antenna replaced and able to transmit 12 NM !

Liftout HYS

Forecast: W 5-7, Increasing Gale 8 to Storm 10. Rough to High, Squally. Perfect day for a liftout ! Liftout for Lower Shaft replacement inc bearings as well as usual antifoul Maintenance
Docked safely after 5ft swells entering Hamble channel
Looking surprisingly good after nearly a year in the marina
However not looking good in the saildrive

HYS Service

After a successful full service invluding heat exchanger end caps replacement as well as Exhaust elbow inspection, it was time for a full run in and test. Trip up the itchen, under Itchen bridge for the first time.

Yarmouth

Target was The Needles, but due to a strong tide and high winds, went in at Yarmouth

Brighton

Following the sunrise out at 5am with an estimated trip duration of 13.5 hours
Weather not looking good for the trip ahead
Offshore wind farm, just off from Brighton.

Safely Moored in our overnight Visitor Berth.
A little wet on route back coming into Solent.
Made it to Brighton ahead of schedule

Not much wind in the morning, Plus a hydrofoil boat
Hole in the dinghy on its maiden voyage

Off Gurnard then Osbourne Bay

20 degree angle on a F4-5 post lunchtime
Clouds rolling in with only a little rain forecast

Gurnard, then past Cowes then a very rough Osbourne Bay

Patches of amazing weather between the gusts of F5-7
Motoring back to port at night

The Folly

With the tide just right, made it up the medina to the folly
Eleanor Safely docked on the last remaining pontoon space
Over 1000 hours now on the VP MD2040 - Still running smooth

With a High aparent wind speed, we set off… I think it even peaked at 36kts
Sails tripple furled
Was a bit distracted to get a picture of the 3 meter waves, so this is in the sheltered waters on route home.
